Greenville, S.C. – Furman freshman attack
Brett Tenaglia was named the SoCon Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon for all games played March 3-9, the league office announced.
It is the first career SoCon Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honor for Tenaglia.
He scored five points in the Paladins' 18-11 loss to No. 3 North Carolina last Friday, scoring three goals for his first career hat trick and adding a pair of assists. Two of his goals came in the second quarter as Furman outscored the Tar Heels 3-2 in the frame to enter halftime trailing just 4-3. The New Fairfield, Conn. native picked up his first assist of the contest on the Paladins' first goal of the third quarter and scored their next one to complete his hat trick and pull the squad within two at 7-5. Tenaglia would earn another assist in the fourth quarter.
Tenaglia leads Furman this season with 17 points on a team-best 11 goals and is tied for first on the team with six assists. He has scored one man-up goal and picked up seven ground balls. Tenaglia also ranks eighth in the conference with 1.83 goals per game.
