Furman Returns Home Friday to Host No. 3/4 North Carolina

Game Time Set for 6 p.m.

Greenville, S.C. – After spending the past three games on the road, the Furman men's lacrosse team is back at home for the first of two straight contests on Friday evening when it hosts the No. 3/4 North Carolina Tar Heels at 6 p.m. from Paladin Stadium.

The Paladins (1-4) are facing their second consecutive ranked opponent in less than a week after concluding their road trip on Sunday afternoon with a 19-6 loss at 13th-ranked Duke. Furman concluded the game with 26 shots and 22 ground balls while forcing Duke into 14 turnovers. The Paladins held a 15-6 advantage in saves.

Anders Erickson and Carson Sorrells both led Furman offensively with two goals apiece while Brett Tenaglia and Tucker Brown each scored one. Tenaglia added one assist along with Chad Kreuzer, Keegan Pearl and Luke Majick. Brady Stoll and Cole Horan picked up four ground balls. Tenaglia, Alex Byron and Zack Siegel all caused one turnover. In goal, Alec Van de Bovenkamp recorded 11 saves while Andrew Jenet added four.

Tenaglia leads the Paladin offense this season with 12 points on a team-best eight goals to go with four assists. Erickson has 11 points on a team-leading six assists and five goals. Sorrells contributes seven goals and Brown six. Van de Bovenkamp has recorded 68 saves in goal and registered a .504 save percentage.

North Carolina is currently ranked third this week in the USILA Coaches Poll and fourth in the Maverik Media Poll. The Tar Heels are 5-0 this season following a 15-13 victory at Denver on Sunday. Chris Gray leads North Carolina offensively with 31 points on 18 goals and 13 assists. Nicky Solomon has dished out a team-high 14 assists. In goal, Caton Johnson has made 39 saves to go with a .506 save percentage. The Tar Heels are under the direction of 12th-year head coach Joe Breschi.

Furman and North Carolina are meeting for the seventh time in program history with the Tar Heels leading the all-time series 6-0.

The Paladins remain at home next Tuesday, March 10 to host second-ranked Penn State at 7 p.m.
