Box Score Greenville, S.C. – Kenny Meinsen scored with 11 seconds remaining to tie the game at 10 and send it to overtime, but Mercer scored the game-winning goal with 49 seconds left in the overtime period to give the Bears their second-straight overtime win and hand the Paladins their first SoCon loss of the season. The win moves Mercer to 2-5 on the year, 2-0 in SoCon play, while the loss drops the Paladins to 2-6, 1-1 in SoCon play.
Meinsen scored his second goal of the day three minutes into the fourth quarter to tie the game at six, before Robbie Betchley III scored less than a minute later to give the Paladins the 7-6 advantage. Both teams were held scoreless for the next five minutes, before Tim Geran netted his first goal of the day for the Bears to tie the game at 7.
Meinsen scored his third goal of the day with 3:27 remaining to put the Paladins back on top at 8-7, before Scott Primeau scored with 2:07 on the clock to seemingly put the Paladins in front for good with a 9-7 lead. However, Mercer cut the lead to one with 1:12 remaining, then scored two goals in less than 30 seconds to put the Bears on top 10-9 with just 36 seconds on the clock. Hil Blaze won the ensuing faceoff, then Meinsen grabbed his fourth goal of the day with 11 seconds to go to tie the game at 10 and send it to overtime.  
Meinsen paced the Paladins with four goals on the day, while Betchley, Clay Adams, Brady Dashiell, Scott Primeau, Chase Hancock and Michael Toto each added one. Primeau also added two assists, while Tommy Farnish picked up a team-high four ground balls. Reilly McDermott was saddled with the tough-luck loss, but tallied 13 saves in the game.
Matt Quinn led Mercer with three goals and two assists, while Chris Baxa and Jackson Kleintz added two each, with Kleintz netting the game-winner. Kleintz and Ben Lesane each picked up a team-high three ground balls.
Neither team started off strong offensively, with both being held off the board for the first six minutes of the game. Mercer's Chris Baxa netted a goal with 8:37 remaining in the first to give the Bears the 1-0 lead, before Furman came storming back, scoring four-straight goals over the next five minutes to take a 4-1 lead with 3:13 remaining. Mercer then scored with 2:18 left in the first to cut the Furman lead in half heading into the second quarter.
The Bears scored two minutes into the second quarter to cut the Furman lead to one at 4-3, but Brady Dashiell scored his second goal of the year to push the Paladin lead back to two at 5-3 with 11:51 on the clock. Both defenses held strong for the remainder of the first half, with Mercer getting a goal from Matt Quinn with 2:58 remaining to send the teams to the locker room with Furman leading 5-4. The third quarter was a defensive showcase, but with 8:33 on the clock, the Bears scored two goals in 1:30 take a 6-5 lead into the fourth quarter.
Furman is back in action on Saturday, March 28, traveling to High Point, N.C., to take on the Panthers at 12:00 p.m.
