ATLANTA, Ga. – Georgia State slipped past Furman, 5-2, in men's tennis action Sunday at the Lifetime Fitness Facility in Norcross, Ga.

In doubles action, Georgia State's Jack MacFarlane and Felipe Jaworski blanked freshman Alex Steryous and sophomore Stefan Rhodes, 6-0, at flight three, but the Paladins evened the score as seniors Ben Horst and Matt Browne teamed up to defeat Jannis Koeke and Giles Hussey, 6-2, at flight two.  In the decisive top-seeded match-up, Sebastian Acuna and Andrei Andrukhou outlasted junior Adam Steryous and sophomore Cameron Green, 6-4, to clinch the opening point.

The Paladins were victorious in the top two singles matches, as Adam Steryous downed Koeke, 6-3, 7-5, at flight one, and Browne recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 victory over Acuna in the flight two contest. 

The Panthers swept flights three through six for the win, with Andrukhou notching a 6-4, 3-6, 13-11 win versus Green at number three, and MacFarlane outlasting Horst, 6-3, 6-3, at flight four.  In the flight five match-up, Jaworski recorded a 6-4, 6-1 victory over sophomore Josh Pistorius, and Giles Hussey defeated sophomore Galen Arney, 6-3, 6-2, at number six.

Furman (0-2) returns to action on January 29 when the Paladins play host to Presbyterian at 3 p.m. in the team's home opener at the Mickel Tennis Center.
