Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. – Top-ranked Virginia blanked Furman, 7-0, Saturday at the Boyd Tinsley Courts in Charlottesville, Va.
The Cavaliers were victorious in two of three doubles matches to win the opening point. Luca Corinteli and Ryan Shane, ranked 14th nationally, topped junior Adam Steryous and sophomore Cameron Green, 6-1, at flight one, and Henrik Wiersholm teamed with Jonathan Cornish for a 6-2 victory versus freshman Alex Steryous and sophomore Stefan Rhodes at number three. The Paladins took the win at flight two, as seniors Ben Horst and Matt Browne beat Collin Altamirano and J.C. Aragone, 6-3.
In singles action, second-ranked Thai-Son Kwiatkowski posted a 7-6, 6-2 win over Adam Steryous in the top-seeded contest, and Altamirano defeated Browne, 6-2, 6-1, at flight two. In the flight three match, 74th-ranked Aragone downed Green, 6-4, 6-2, and Wiersholm, ranked 90th nationally, posted a 6-0, 6-1 advantage against Horst at flight four. Luca Corinteli beat sophomore Josh Pistorius, 6-0, 6-1, at number five, and Harrison Richmond completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Alex Steryous at flight six.
Furman (2-2) will entertain UNC Asheville Wednesday at 3 p.m.
