Furman Rolls Past The Citadel, 6-1

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman rolled past The Citadel, 6-1, Friday in men's tennis action at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. 

The Paladins swept the doubles matches to clinch the opening point.  Seniors Ben Horst and Matt Browne teamed up to beat Matthew Henson and Artemie Amari, 6-3, at flight one, and sophomore Cameron Green and freshman Alex Steryous downed Nicholas Bradley and Michael Anzalone, 6-4, at flight two.  In the third-seeded contest, sophomore Josh Pistorius and junior Adam Steryous topped Jackson Pride and Connor Grady, 6-1.

Furman was victorious in five singles matches for the win.  Adam Steryous recorded a 6-0, 6-3 advantage over Bradley in the top-seeded match-up, and Green posted a 6-2, 6-2 win versus Henson at flight three.  In the number four match, Alex Steryous defeated Pride, 6-3, 6-4, and Pistorius notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory against Anzalone at number five.  Junior Luke Hoover played his first match of the season, picking up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Trey Davis.

The Bulldogs lone point came at flight two, where Amari beat Browne, 6-4, 6-4.

The Paladins (7-7, 2-0 SoCon) will entertain UCF Saturday at 1 p.m.
