Box Score GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman extended its winning streak to four matches with a 4-2 victory over UCF Saturday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. With the win, the Paladins have won five of their last six matches.
The Paladins won the top two doubles matches to claim the opening point. Seniors Ben Horst and Matt Browne topped Chris Barrus and Inaki Espindola, 7-5, at flight one, and sophomore Cameron Green and rookie Alex Steryous beat Reece Acree and Tyler Pate, 6-3, at flight two. The flight three match was unfinished.
Furman captured three singles matches for the team win. Junior Adam Steryous defeated Espindola, 7-5, 6-2, in the top-seeded contest, and Green downed Jose Sangroniz, 6-3, 6-2, in the number three match-up. At flight four, Horst posted a 6-4, 7-5 advantage versus Mariano Porter.
The Knights picked up two singles points, and Barrus came from behind for a 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 win over Browne at flight two, ,and Nico De Fraia topped Alex Steryous, 6-2, 6-2.
The flight six match was unfinished, with Paladin sophomore Josh Pistorius leading Acree, 7-6, 5-4.
The Paladins (8-7, 2-0 SoCon) continue SoCon play on April 1 when Furman entertains ETSU at 3 p.m.
