Box Score Fresno, Calif. – Sarah Bloises and Nicole Ortlieb each scored two goals and the Fresno State Bulldogs outlasted Furman, 7-4, on Sunday night. The loss drops Furman to 3-3 on the year, while the win moves Fresno State to 3-3.
Ashely Trice, Paige Gamble, Kasie Lilly, and Devon Horine each scored a goal for the Paladins, while Gamble added two assists to her stat line. Meg Lingo won four draws for Furman and picked up two ground balls, while goalie Maggie Friel played all 60 minutes and made three saves.
Fresno State jumped out to an early lead two minutes into the game, before Furman got back-to-back goals from Ashley Trice and Kasie Lilly to take a 2-1 lead with 20:29 left in the half. The Bulldogs then used a 4-0 scoring run over the game's next 43:29 to push the lead to 5-2 and put the Paladins in a deficit that they could not overcome. Furman got a goal from Devon Horine to cut the lead to two, but Fresno State scored back-to-back goals to push the lead back to 7-3 with 1:49 remaining. Paige Gamble scored with 58 seconds to go for Furman's fourth and final goal.
Furman is back in action on Thursday, March 10, at San Diego State.
