ELON, N.C. – Furman fell at Elon, 6-1, Sunday at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C. 

The Phoenix claimed two of three doubles matches to take the opening point.  Mario Paccini and Robert Lindgren recorded a 6-3 win over freshman Alex Steryous and sophomore Cameron Green at flight two, then Furman sophomore Josh Pistorius and junior Adam Steryous beat Neal Port and Salvador Mijares, 6-3, at number three to set up a decisive flight one match-up.  Elon's Petar Tomic and Chris Humphreys defeated seniors Ben Horst and Matt Browne, 7-5, at claim the point.

Elon posted five singles victories for the team win, as Felipe Sarrasague defeated Green, 6-3, 6-4, at number one, and Paccini topped Browne, 6-3, 7-5, at flight two.  In the number three contest, Lindgren came from behind for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory over Horst, and Mijares bested Pistorius, 6-3, 6-2, at number four.  At flight six, Felipe Osses-Konig beat junior Luke Hoover, 6-1, 6-2.

Furman's lone point came at flight five, where Alex Steryous held on for a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) advantage over Tomic.

The Paladins (9-10, 3-2 SoCon) will entertain Wofford Thursday at 3 p.m. in Furman's final home match of the season.  The team will honor seniors Matt Browne and Ben Horst in their final home match of their career.
