GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team will open the 2018 spring season Monday at the 13th Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Tournament at the par 72, 6,913 yard Wexford Plantation course on Hilton Head Island.
The 54-hole tournament, which is being hosted by Francis Marion, will begin with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Monday. Teams will play two rounds on Monday, with the second round immediately following the conclusion of round one. The tournament will conclude with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
Furman will be joined in the 18-team field by host Francis Marion, Akron, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Dartmouth, Davidson, Dayton, Georgia, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Memphis, Mercer, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Aiken, TCU, and Wofford.
The Paladin lineup includes juniors Connor Bruns and Garrison Hogan and sophomores Keller Harper, Jake Reilly, and Scott Purvis.
"We are excited to get the spring season started at the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head," said Furman head coach Todd Satterfield, who is in his 22nd year at the helm of the Paladin program. "The guys have done a fantastic job of preparing and the qualifying was very competitive. We are looking forward to continuing the improvement we made this fall season."
Last fall Harper led the team with a 72.6 stroke average over 15 rounds, and Bruns was second on the Paladin team with a 73.5 stroke average over 15 rounds.
Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome. Live tournament scoring will also be available via www.golfstat.com.
