WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Senior Natalie Srinivasan (+1) and freshman Anna Morgan (+1) each carded one-over 73 to tie for 29th and lead the 29th-ranked Furman women's golf team (+11) Friday in the opening day of the Landfall Tradition at the par 72, 6,140 yard Pete Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.

Srinivasan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., teed off on No. 10 and birdied No. 16 to turn at two-over then added birdies on No. 2 and No. 6, while Morgan, who also hails from Spartanburg, S.C., turned at one-over then scored birdies on No. 1 and No. 9 to complete the round.  The Paladin duo is five strokes back of leader Tunrada Piddon (-4) of UCF, who fired an opening-round 68. 

Freshman Caroline Wrigley (+4) matched Srinivasan with a team-high three birdies and is tied for 65th after posting a 76 in round one, and sophomore Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+5) eagled the par-5 No. 12 and recorded a birdie on No. 1 to tie for 72nd with a 77 on Friday.  Junior Carly Burkhardt (+6) notched birdies on No. 2 and No. 11 and carded a 78 to tie for 81st.  

Junior Caitlin Cotterill (+7), who is playing as an individual, tallied a first-round 79 to tie for 86th after scoring birdies on No. 3 and No. 6.

No. 13 Alabama (-3) and 19th-ranked Illinois (-3) are tied for the lead and hold a one-stroke margin over No. 32 Virginia (-2) after one round.  No. 37 Florida State (+1) and ninth-ranked South Carolina (+1) are tied for fourth place heading into Saturday's second round.  The Paladins (+11) are tied for 17th.  

The second round of the 54-hole tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, with final round play slated for Sunday at 8:45 a.m.  Furman will tee off of No. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and will play in a group with UNC Wilmington and Michigan State.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.golfstat.com.
