Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's soccer program has signed seven players for its the 2020 class, it was announced this week by Paladin head coach
Andrew Burr.
Camryn Bolick (Black Mountain, N.C.), Addison Corn (Marietta, Ga.), Hannah Farr (Lawrenceville, Ga.), Nieva Gaither (Lilburn, Ga.), Maggie Miller (Charlotte, N.C.), Miya Poplin (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Annika Dogger (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) will join the Paladin program for the 2020 season.
"We are excited to welcome the 2020 class to the Furman family," said Burr, the winningest coach in Southern Conference history. "Each signee in this class is an outstanding fit for Furman University and our program. With the graduation of several key seniors from this year's team, we believe this class has a chance to make an immediate impact for us on the field."
The 2020 class is highlighted by United Soccer Coaches and Top Drawer Soccer All-American Nieva Gaither. A standout at Parkview High School and for Gwinnett Soccer Association (GSA), Gaither earned All-American honors, Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year honors and Gwinnett County Player of the Year accolades following her sophomore and junior seasons. The forward has totaled 74 goals and 21 assists for Parkview over the past two seasons and earned Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Southeast Conference Player of the Year honors while playing for GSA this past season.
A two-time Western Highlands Conference Player of the Year and 2018-19 Owen High School Female Athlete of the Year, Bolick scored 25 goals this past season to lead Owen to its second straight undefeated season in league play and its straight trip to the third round of the state playoffs. The midfielder played club ball for Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and also played in the WPSL for Asheville City. She's also a three-time all-conference selection in tennis.
Rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 3 goalkeeper in the South Atlantic Region by Top Drawer Soccer, Corn is a standout for Concorde Fire Soccer Club. She has guided Concorde Fire SC's U18/19 ECNL squad to back-to-back Southeast Conference titles and national playoff round of 16 appearances. The netminder and Mount Paran Christian School product has posted a 0.68 goals against average for Concorde Fire SC over the past five seasons.
Dogger, a senior at Sea Pines Montessori School, is a standout defender for United Soccer Academy and a two-star prospect in the 2020 class, according to Top Drawer Soccer. The four-time team captain and former ODP Region III Team member has helped her club into second place in the DPL League. She has also appeared for Beaufort County FC in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL).
Farr, a two-star prospect according to Top Drawer Soccer, garnered All-Region 7-AAAAAAA and Gwinnett Daily Post All-County honors as a sophomore and junior at Brookwood High School. The midfielder led the Broncos to the final four of the 2019 Georgia AAAAAAA playoffs. She has played the past three seasons in the ECNL for Gwinnett Soccer Association and is currently the team captain.
A product of Metrolina Christian Academy, Miller is rated as a two-star prospect by Top Drawer Soccer. She captured a state title as a freshman at Weddington High School before transferring to Metrolina Christian, where she is also a standout on the basketball court. The defender plays her club soccer for Charlotte Soccer Academy.
Midfielder Miya Poplin is a three-star prospect, according to Top Drawer Soccer, and earned All-Southeast Conference honors for CESA's ECNL side last season. Poplin is a three-time SCHSSCA 4A All-State selection and three-time all-region choice at Hilton Head High School. She has led her team to three consecutive playoff appearances, including a state title as a sophomore.
Furman posted a 14-6-1 overall record and claimed the Southern Conference regular season title with a 7-1-1 league mark this past season. The Paladins are set to return seven starters next season, including All-SoCon selections
