Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's lacrosse team begins its 2020 season on Saturday morning when it travels to Durham, N.C. to face the Bucknell Bison at 11 a.m. in a neutral-site game at Duke's Koskinen Stadium.

The Paladins begin their seventh season as a program on Saturday, all under the direction of head coach
Richie Meade.
Furman finished the 2019 season with a 4-10 overall record and went 2-5 in the SoCon. The Paladins return six starters from last year's team including Preseason All-SoCon goalkeeper
Alec Van de Bovenkamp. Other returning starters for Furman include
Jarrett Birch,
Chad Kreuzer, Anders Erikson,
Corey Hall and
Cole Horan.
The Paladins enter the 2020 season projected to finish sixth in the SoCon.
Birch was the team's leading scorer last season compiling 37 points on 31 goals and six assists.
Carson Sorrells (20 goals), Kreuzer (16 goals) and Erikson (11 goals) all scored double figure goals last year. Erikson also led the team with 17 assists. In goal, Van de Bovenkamp grabbed 182 saves and compiled a .510 save percentage.
Van de Bovenkamp was recognized for his performance by being named Second Team All-SoCon.
Bucknell finished last season with a 6-9 overall record and went 4-4 in the Patriot League. The Bison were projected to finish in a tie for sixth place with Holy Cross in the Patriot League preseason poll and had one representative on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team in Bryant Boswell. Bucknell is under the direction of 15
th-year head coach Frank Fedorjaka.
Furman is facing the Bison for the first time in program history.
The Paladins host Hampton next Saturday, February 8, in their home opener at 12 p.m.
