Davidson Takes 14-5 Decision over Furman on Saturday

Paladins Travel to Johns Hopkins Next Saturday

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team fell 14-5 to the Davidson Wildcats in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon from Paladin Stadium.

Furman drops to 2-2 on the season while Davidson improves to 1-2 overall.

Grace Pollak scored a team-high two goals while Lauren Farber added one goal and one assist to lead the Paladins offensively. Sydney Catts and Hannah Dintino both contributed one goal. Hannah Demis dished out one assist. Morgan Franklin recorded seven draws and caused three turnovers along with Regan Lingo. Rachel Sindler and Kaylee Coleman both had three ground balls. In goal, Meghan Deehan made 10 saves.

Gianna New and Shayne Antolini both collected hat tricks for the Wildcats while Emma Johnson contributed two goals. Olivia Carey, Sam Rippley and Erin Cooke all compiled two assists. Delaney Guhman grabbed six saves in goal.

The teams traded the first two goals of the contest within seven minutes of play. After Davidson recorded the game's first goal, Pollak responded to even the score at 1-1 with 23:34 remaining off Farber's assist. The Wildcats came back with four consecutive goals over the next 10:12 to push their lead out to 5-1. Pollak and Farber combined for back-to-back goals over a span of less than a minute as Furman trailed 5-3 with 10:50 left. Davidson recorded the final three goals to lead 8-3 at halftime.

The Wildcats continued their run into the second half, scoring the first two goals to go in front 10-3 at the 25:47 mark. The Paladins then held Davidson scoreless over the next 13:33 as Dintino and Catts both collected goals. Dintino scored on a free position attempt and Catts unassisted. The goal by Catts with 14:00 to go cut Furman's deficit down to 10-5. The Wildcats closed out the final 12:12 on a 4-0 run to put the final score at 14-5.

The Paladins concluded the game with 17 shots and 18 ground balls. Furman held a 12-9 advantage in draws.

The Paladins return to the road next Saturday, February 29 traveling to Baltimore, Md. to take on Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m.
