Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Hunter Reid

Furman Grounds Erskine, 73-44

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Greyson Boone scored 14 points to lead a parade of five double figure scorers in Furman's 73-44 victory over Erskine in women's basketball action Tuesday evening at Timmons Arena.

Boone, a junior from Greenville and product of Wade Hampton High School, drained a trio or three-pointers in the third period to help Furman (4-5) put away Erskine (0-1), which was playing its first game of the season.

Three Paladins followed Boone with 11 points apiece — Tyah Hunter, Celena Taborn, and Grace van Rij — and Tierra Hodges rounded out the double figures display with 10 points, which she combined with 10 rebounds to notch her sixth double-double of the season.

Boone's 14-point effort, which featured 4-for-8 shooting from beyond the arc and a pair of free throws, marked a new career high, as did Hunter's 11-point outing.  Taborn's 11 points came in just 12 minutes of action as head coach Jackie Carson saw all 11 players available for the game register double figure minutes.

Freshman point guard Paraskevi Koilia collected a season high nine assists.

Furman had no trouble in taking command from the outset, grabbing a 24-13 lead after one period, and blowing it open in the second en route to a 48-23 halftime advantage.

The Paladins shot 49.1 percent from the field (27x55) and dominated the boards, posting a 50-22 advantage on the glass, which contributed to a 40-14 scoring advantage in the paint.

Osha Makerson topped Erskine with 14 points.

Furman's next game is Saturday when it opens Southern Conference play at Wofford in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
