WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Junior Anna Morgan (+8) tied for 46th to lead the Furman women's golf team this weekend at the Landfall Tradition at the par 72, 6,150 yard CountryClub of Landfall's Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan tallied a 78 with back to back birdies on No. 2 and No. 3 in Sunday's final round. Sophomore Sophia Burnett (+10) finished in a tie for 58th after pacing the Paladins with a 75 with a birdie on No. 3 in the final round of play. Â
Senior Kyra Cox (+11) and freshman Savannah Hyton (+11) tied for 63rd. Hylton carded a 77 with a team-high three birdies on Sunday, while Cox recorded an 80 with a birdie on No. 6.Â
Senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+15) scored a 76 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 13 on Sunday to tie for 77th, while sophomore Caroline Crumrine (+21), who played as an individual, finished in 87th place after carding an 82 with a birdie on No. 6 in the final round.
South Carolina's Justine Fournand won individual medalist honors with scores of 67-73-68=208.
Sixth-ranked South Carolina (-15) won the tournament by 12 strokes over 15th-ranked Michigan (-3). Michigan State (+1) finished third, followed by No. 7 Wake Forest (+7) in fourth and No. 4 Virginia (+8) in fifth place. The Paladins (+35), who rank 40th, finished in 16th place, ahead of Maryland (+38) and host UNCS (+68).
Furman opens the 2022 spring season when the Paladins co-host The Show At Spanish Trail in Las Vegas, Nev., Feb. 14-15.
