Greene’s Late Goal Sends Furman to SoCon Championship Game

Paladins Advance to 17th Championship Game Appearance in Program History

Greenville, S.C. – Junior Jasmine Greene scored on a pass from Hannah Farr in the 82nd minute to lift the second-seeded Furman Paladins to a 1-0 victory over No. 3 seed Western Carolina in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship, Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium.

With the win, Furman (12-5-1) advances to face No. 1 seed Samford in the championship game on Sunday, November 7 at 2 p.m. ET from Shauna Yelton Field in Birmingham, Ala. The game will be streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+.

Greene broke the scoreless tie at the end of the 82nd minute with her fifth goal of the season. Farr gained possession of the ball after a long pass down the far sideline from Camryn Bolick and dribbled past one Western Carolina defender inside the 18-yard box. Her pass across the box went by the Catamount defense and found an open Greene who scored on the one-timer from six yards away.

Farr contributed her second assist of the season while goalkeeper Addison Corn finished with six saves for her third shutout this year. Greene led the Paladins with three shots including two on goal.

Western Carolina (11-8-1) was led by Naya Marcil with four shots and two attempts on net. Goalkeeper Ashlee Owens recorded two saves.

The Catamounts held a 14-7 advantage in shots and 6-3 in attempts on goal. Both teams registered four corner kicks each.

Furman will be making its 17th appearance in the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship game and fourth in a row dating back to 2018. The Paladins are facing Samford in the championship game for the third consecutive year.
