Chattanooga, Tenn. – Kyndal Anderson tied her career-high of five points on two goals and an assist on Friday evening to lead the Furman Paladins to a 4-1 victory over the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference women's soccer action from the UTC Sports Complex.
Furman improves to 6-4-1 on the season and 2-2 in SoCon play, while Chattanooga drops to 4-8-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference.
The Paladins, who move to 29-0 all-time against the Mocs, rallied for four unanswered goals all in the second half. Furman scored twice over the first 20 minutes of the second half and added two more in the final 10.
Chattanooga struck first less than a minute into the second half on a goal from JaNiya Stevens, scoring in the 46
th minute of play unassisted.
Anderson followed with her first goal of the contest in the 53
rd minute to tie the score at 1-1. The redshirt-junior from Acworth, Ga. contributed to the Paladins' second goal in the 64
th minute, recording her first assist of the year leading to
Hayley Foster's third goal and putting them ahead 2-1.
Hannah Farr extended Furman's lead to 3-1 in the 85
th minute on her third goal of the season with
Isabella Gutierrez getting credit for her fourth assist.
Anderson sealed the win for the Paladins in the 88
th minute scoring an unassisted goal, her team-leading sixth of the year, to put the final score at 4-1.
Anderson led Furman with four shots while
Jasmine Greene and
Nieva Gaither added three apiece. Anderson also had four attempts on goal and Gaither three.
Addison Corn and
Nora Sampson combined for eight saves with Sampson grabbing five and Corn three.
Mackenzie Smith attempted a team-high four shots for the Mocs with all four going on goal. Abbey Saddler made eight saves in goal.
The Paladins held a 15-13 advantage in shots and 12-9 in attempts on goal. Furman also led 9-5 in corner kicks.
The Paladins travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. matchup against Samford.
