Pleasant, S.C. this week and features the country's top NCAA Division I players.

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Adams dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision to UCLA's Abigail Forbes, who ranks second nationally, in the round of 32 of the main singles draw.  In the qualifying round of 16 in the consolation draw, Adams defeated 33rd-ranked Selin Ovunc of Auburn, 6-3, 6-4, then in the round of 8 she topped Duke's Kelly Chen, who ranks 25th nationally and reached the finals of the All-American Championships last season, 0-6, 6-1, 6-4.  Adams will square off against 13th-ranked Victoria Flores of Pepperdine on Saturday at 10 a.m.

In doubles action, Adams and Dillon, who hails from Hilton Head, S.C., rank 26th nationally in the ITA preseason rankings.  The Paladin duo beat Carolyn Ansari and Ovunc of Auburn, 8-4, in the round of 32, then fell to Pepperdine's Janice Tjen and Flores, 9-7, in the round of 16.

"I am really proud of how Julia and Madison have played and competed so far this week," said Furman head coach Adam Herendeen.  "They have made some great adjustments during matches and have showed a lot of maturity on the court."

The women's singles consolation finalists will earn automatic entry into the ITA National Fall Championships slated for Nov. 4-7 in San Diego, Calif.
