GREENVILLE, S.C. --
Kennedy Grier scored 17 points to lead a balanced scoring scoring effort as Furman rolled past Converse, 101-58, in women's basketball action Wedneday evening at Timmons Arena.
Grier, a sophomore guard from Charlotte, N.C., recorded her game high 17 points in just 13 minutes of action, headlining a Paladin offensive effort that produced five double figure scorers. Â All 16 Furman players in uniform saw action in the contest.
Sydney James followed Grier with 13 points, and
Janay Outten,
Tierra Hodges, and
Katie Whitaker each contributed 11 points for Furman (2-1).
Converse (0-3) was paced by Keyshuna Fair's 16 points.
Furman took command early, racing to a 27-4 lead after one quarter. Â With head coach
Jackie Carson substituting liberally, the Paladins took a 44-21 lead into intermission before putting game away with a 35-point third quarter.
Hodges logged only 16 minutes in the contest but managed to record her second double-double of the season — and 17th in the last 28 games —with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Her 11 points moved her up to 19th on Furman's caerer scoring ledger with 1,159 points, and her 10 caroms advanced her to fourth on the Paladins' all-time rebounding chart with 941.
Furman shot 43.9 percent from the field (36x82) and dominated the boards, registering a 60-28 advantage, including a 32-10 edge on the offensive glass that contributed to a 26-5 advantage in second chance points and 52-22 spread on points in the paint.
Converse committed 30 turnovers, which the Paladins converted into 39 points.
Furman plays host to UNC Asheville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
