GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Cece Crudup scored 18 of her game high 22 points in the second half to help UNCG rally past Furman on the way to a 58-50 victory in Southern Conference women's basketball Saturday afternoon at Fleming Gymnasium.

Crudup, a senior guard, tallied only four points over the game's first 20 minutes as UNCG (6-14, 4-7 SoCon) trailed 25-20 at intermission, but in the second half hit on 7-of-9 shots and 3-of-4 free throws to ignite the Spartans' comeback.

UNCG scored the first six points of the second half to take a 26-25 lead and led 37-32 with just under two minutes remaining in the period when Furman's Celena Taborn converted a layup and Tate Walters finished the period with a 3-pointer to tied the game at 37-37.

Furman (7-13, 3-8 SoCon) couldn't maintain the momentum in the fourth quarter as UNCG opened the frame with an 8-2 to take a 45-39 lead following a Jayla Johnson jump shot three minutes into the period.

Another Walters basket at the 2:23 mark pulled Furman to within 50-48, but Crudup answered with a 3-pointer on the ensuing possession to make it 53-48.

Crudup's strong work keyed 13-of-23 shooting (56.5%) in the second half for the Spartans, who finished at 44.0 percent for the game (23x50).

Furman was paced by redshirt senior forward Tierra Hodges' 16 points and 11 rebounds, which represented her 10th double-double of the campaign.

Taborn added 12 points and six rebounds, and freshman Sydney James chipped in 11 points and six assists.

The Paladins connected on 20-of-57 shots from the field (35.1%).

Khalis Cain topped all rebounders with 15 caroms, helping UNCG to claim a 34-31 advantage on the glass.
