GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The 23rd-ranked Furman women's tennis team will play host to Charlotte and Kennesaw State Saturday in a double header at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. First serve versus Charlotte is set for noon, and the match with Kennesaw State is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Live stats will be available via http://www.furmanpaladins.com.
Furman (7-5, 1-0 SoCon) defeated Western Carolina and Presbyterian, 7-0, in Greenville in its previous two outings. Earlier this month, the Paladins topped undefeated Alabama, 4-3, then knocked off No. 16 Wake Forest, 5-2. Furman then toppled 18th-ranked South Carolina, 5-2, in Columbia and defeated Virginia Tech, 4-1, in Blacksburg. Paladin senior Katarina Kozarov is ranked 15th nationally in singles, and the Furman doubles team of Kozarov and junior Julia Adams is ranked 27th nationally.
Charlotte is 8-3 and will entertain ETSU Friday before coming to Greenville on Saturday. Most recently, the 49ers beat College of Charleston, 7-0, and Clemson, 4-3, and fell to top-ranked North Carolina, 7-0. The teams last met in 2018, when Furman defeated the 49ers, 7-0, in Greenville to take a 24-0 lead in the series.
Kennesaw State enters Saturday's match at 2-3 after defeating Georgia State, 4-3, and Jacksonville State, 4-2, earlier in the month. Saturday's contest marks the first meeting between the two programs.
