PEACHTREE CITY, GA. -- Furman fell to Georgia State, 6-1, Saturday at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga.  

The Panthers won two of three doubles matches to win the first point.  Harvey Maughan and Kevin Huynh teamed up to beat senior Ivan Mitric and junior James Roelofse, 6-4, at flight two, and at number three, Vazha Shubladze and Mihai Marinescu defeated senior Drew Singerman and freshman Emil Westling, 6-4.  In the top-seeded match-up, seniors Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi outlasted 30th-ranked Andrei Duarte and Robers Grinvalds 7-6(7).

Furman scored at flight one singles, where Mitric came from behind for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, victory over Shubladze.  

Georgia State (3-3) won the final five matches to take the team win.  Duarte topped Atlevi, 6-1, 6-2, at flight two, and Grinvalds downed Bhangdia, 6-2, 6-4, at number three.  At flight four, Marinescu held off Singerman, 6-3, 7-6(5), and at number five, Maughan defeated Westling, 6-3, 7-5.  Patrick Lazo entered the lineup at flight six, where he outlasted freshman Ben Cahill, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2.

Furman (3-4, 1-0 SoCon) will entertain Kennesaw State Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
