Furman Remains in Third Place at Schenkel Invitational

Scott Tied for Second to Lead Paladins

Statesboro, Ga. – Ross Funderburke's hole-in-one highlighted day two of the Schenkel Invitational for the Furman men's golf team on Saturday from the par 72, 6962-yard Forest Heights Country Club.

The ace by Funderburke came on the par 3 sixth hole as the Roanoke, Va., native carded a low score of 70 in the second round.

Furman has three players in the top-10 heading into final round action on Sunday in Funderburke, Mac Scott and Keller Harper. Scott is currently tied for second place, while Funderburke is in 12th and Harper sits tied for 15th position.

Scott's second round 72 has put him in a tie for second place at 6-under par 138. The 70 carded by Funderburke moved him up seven spots on the leaderboard and sits in 12th with a 3-under 141. Harper is two strokes back of Funderburke in a tie for 15th as his second round 73 put him at 1-under 143.

Jack Crosby tied Funderburke for the lowest round of the day with a 70, highlighted by a team-best five birdies, and currently sits in a tie for 20th place with a 146.

Reynolds Lambert rounds out the leaderboard for the Paladins in a tie for 53rd as his second round 76 put him at 151 through two days.

Furman carded a second round 285 on Saturday and remains in third place of the team standings with a 9-under par 567, trailing only No. 21 N.C. State and No. 40 Georgia Southern.

N.C. State leads the Schenkel Invitational by 14 strokes over Georgia Southern at 25-under 551. The Paladins are only two strokes behind Georgia Southern, who is second with an 11-under 565.

Scott ranks tied for second among the tournament field in par 4 scoring at 4-under and a 3.80 stroke average. Funderburke is tied for third in par 3 scoring (-2, 2.75 stroke average) and, along with Scott, sits tied for seventh in par 5 scoring at 4-under and a 4.50 stroke average.

Harper and Scott are tied for the team-lead with eight birdies apiece, and Funderburke has contributed a team-high 26 pars. Funderburke and Scott have both recorded one eagle.

Furman tees off its final round of the Schenkel Invitational on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
