WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Furman senior Harris Barth (-6) carded a 67, tying his best round of the season, to tie for 14th in Wednesday's final round of the NCAA Winston-Salem Regional, which was held this week at the par 71, 7013 yard Bermuda Run Country Club in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A three-time All-SoCon honoree from Atlanta, Ga., Barth parred his first hole then birdied five out of his next six holes to turn at 5-under. He added consecutive birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 to move to 7-under and finished his final round as a Paladin at 4-under. Â
Virginia's Ben James (-13), who ranks third nationally, won the individual title at 19-under, while Jacob Lang (-9) of Kentucky was the low individual not on an advancing team.
No. 3 Virginia (-36) and 15th-ranked Pepperdine (-36) tied for the regional championship, while tenth-ranked Ole Miss (-31), No. 28 Southern Cal (-27), and 39th-ranked Mississippi State (-26) also advanced out of the regional to the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 29-June 3, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
