CHATTANOOGA, TENN. -- Furman recorded a key Southern Conference victory at Chattanooga, 6-1, Sunday at the Strang-Voges Tennis Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.

The Paladins won two of three doubles matches to claim the first point.  Freshman Ben Cahill and senior Ivan Mitric held off Turner Voges and Simon Labbe, 7-5, at flight two, and senior Drew Singerman and freshman Emil Westling defeated Kerim Hyatt and Kaisei Kuroki, 7-5, at number three.  At flight one, which finished last, Tomas Rodriguez and Peyton Gatti beat seniors Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi, 7-5, to foil the sweep.

Furman won the top three singles matches and picked up points at flights five and six.  Mitric outlasted Rodriguez, 7-6, 7-6, at number one, and Bhangdia topped Voges, 7-6, 6-4, at flight two.  At flight three, Atlevi held off Hyatt, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, and Singerman defeated Jacob Marshall in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(10) in the number five contest.  Junior James Roelofse downed Quinten Nevenhoven, 7-5, 6-3, at flight six.

Chattanooga (6-8, 2-1 SoCon) won at flight four, where Labbe came from behind for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 advantage over Westling.

Furman (6-10, 3-1 SoCon) returns home to entertain Mercer Friday at 3 p.m. and Samford Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
