GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman concluded the regular season Sunday with a 6-1 senior day victory over S.C. State at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins took the first point with doubles wins at flights two and three.  Senior Ivan Mitric and freshman Ben Cahill defeated Aleska Daskalovic and Erwan Momo, 6-4, at flight two, and freshman Emil Westling and Drew Singerman beat Diego Arzaluz and Selim Ben Ali, 6-1, at number three.  The Bulldogs took the victory at flight one, as Marcelo Rodgriguez and Elyes Marouani topped seniors Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi, who rank 85th nationally, 6-1.  

Furman won five of six singles matches, three in straight sets.  Mitric downed Daskalovic, 7-5, 6-2, at flight one, and Bhangdia, who was honored in a senior day ceremony along with Atlevi after the match, held off Rodgriguez, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, at flight two.  At flight three, Atlevi came from behind for a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Marouani, and Westling defeated Omer Gorgun, 7-5, 6-3, at number four.  Singerman beat Arzaulz, 7-5, 6-2, at number five.

S.C. State (5-5, 2-0 MEAC) picked up a point at flight six, where Luka Stevanovic entered the lineup and outlasted  junior James Roelofse, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (15-13)

Furman (9-11, 5-2 SoCon) has secured the No. 3 seed in next weekend's league tournament.  The Paladins will play No. 2 Samford Friday at 11 a.m. in the opening round of the conference championships, which will be held in Birmingham, Ala.  Top-seeded ETSU will square off against No. 4 Mercer in the other semifinal match up.
