Keller Harper is tied for 10
th place after Monday's opening round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at the par 72, 7,505-yard Seminole Legacy Club.
The three-time SoCon Player of the Year carded an opening round 3-under par 69 and is tied with Central Florida's Johnny Travale, four strokes back of the tournament leader. Harper birdied four holes on the front nine for a 33, then added an additional birdie on the par 5 14
th hole to finish the day at 69.
Harper is currently tied for second among the tournament field in par 4 scoring at 2-under with a 3.80 stroke average. On par 5 holes, he has compiled a 2-under par, 4.50 stroke average.
The senior from Atlanta, Ga. is part of a field of 14 teams and five additional individuals who are battling for a berth in the NCAA Men's Golf Championship, which will be held May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz. The low five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance.
Host Florida State leads the team competition by six strokes over Georgia Tech at 17-under 271. Liberty's Kieran Vincent sits atop the individual leaderboard by two strokes over three players with a 7-under par 65.
Harper will tee off his second round of regional play at 10:53 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
