Johnson City, Tenn. – Tarik Pannholzer broke a scoreless tie a with an 82
nd minute goal to lift ETSU to a 1-0 victory over Furman in Southern Conference men's soccer action Saturday afternoon at Summers-Taylor Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn.
With the victory, ETSU improved to 7-4-3 overall and 3-0-1 in SoCon play to maintain at least a share of the league lead entering the final weekend of the regular season. Furman dropped to 5-6-4 overall and 0-3-1 in the SoCon.
ETSU grabbed the lead at the 81:52 mark on Pannholzer's fourth goal of the season. The forward found space in the box and deposited his shot past Paladin goalkeeper
Ben Roberts.
The Buccaneers dominated the chances with a 15-6 advantage in total shot attempts, including an 8-1 edge in shots on goal. Senior
Dylan Lane registered the Paladins only shot on goal in the 73
rd minute.
Cole Hunter notched one save to earn the victory and clean sheet for ETSU. Roberts saved seven shots in a losing effort for Furman.
The Paladins close out the regular season versus VMI next Saturday night at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and Furman will honor its seniors prior to the match.
