GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will entertain 12th-ranked Duke and Charleston Southern Saturday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins will square off against the Blue Devils at 11 a.m. then take on the Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. 

Furman enters the weekend at 4-2 after competing at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend in Durham last weekend.  The Paladins fell to Oklahoma, which is tied for eighth in this week's national poll, 4-1, on Saturday then defeated Nebraska, 4-1, on Sunday.

Paladin senior Julia Adams is currently ranked 45th nationally in singles, while freshman Sara Snyder is rated 65th, according to the latest ITA Division I National Rankings, which were released in December.  

Duke (3-1) leads the all-time series with Furman, 9-1, after beating the Paladins, 5-2, in Durham last season.  The Blue Devil lineup features four ranked players, including No. 15 Chloe Beck, No. 48 Ellie Coleman, No. 73 Georgia Drummy, and No. 26 Emma Jackson.

Furman defeated Charleston Southern, 6-1, in Greenville in 2019 in the only meeting between the two teams.  The Buccaneers are 1-0 after topping Wofford, 6-1, on January 27. 

The Paladins rewrote the record books during the spring of 2021, as Furman put together a 21-7 overall record and 7-0 SoCon mark with victories over Alabama, No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 18 South Carolina, Virginia Tech, and Clemson.  Furman rose as high as 23rd in the ITA national rankings, marking the highest ranking in program history.  The Paladins, who won the SoCon regular season championship, claimed their fourth-consecutive and 20th overall tournament championship and made their fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Championship.
