Emmitsburg, Md. – Eight different players scored as the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers picked up a 17-4 victory over the Furman women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon at Waldron Family Stadium.
Furman drops to 0-4 on the season while Mount St. Mary's improves to 6-3 overall.
Meagan Beal and
Lauren Farber both scored two goals to lead the Paladins on offense while
Paige Harman dished out one assist. Beal also won a team high three draws.
Amanda McCabe caused two turnovers.
Andrea Fisher set a new career high with four ground balls. In goal,
Lily Rathbun registered six saves and grabbed a career best seven ground balls.
Zoe Hurlburt had seven points for the Mountaineers on four goals and three assists while causing four turnovers. Six different players had two goals and Jordan Groover scored once. Beanie Colson, Lindsey Tolliver and Dani Donoghue all contributed one assist. In goal, Madison Bradley and Delaney LaRose combined for eight saves. Bradley picked up five ground balls.
Beal scored both of her goals in the first half with one coming in the first quarter and one in the second. Harman tallied her team leading fourth assist of the season on Beal's first goal at the 1:06 mark of the first quarter. Mount St. Mary's opened the game on a 5-0 run and led 11-2 at halftime.
The Mountaineers registered five consecutive goals to start the second half to take a 16-2 lead early in the fourth quarter.
Furman closed out the final 11 minutes of the contest outscoring Mount St. Mary's 2-1. Farber scored both goals with her last putting the final score at 17-4.
The Paladins finish up their two-game road trip on Friday, March 25 traveling to Jacksonville, Fla. for a 7 p.m. matchup against 20
th-ranked Jacksonville at Rock Stadium. The game is being streamed via paid subscription on ESPN+ and the ESPN app.
