CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- No. 23 Furman outlasted James Madison, 4-1, Saturday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte, N.C.

The Paladins won the doubles point to open the match.  At flight one, senior Julia Adams and sophomore Ellie Schoppe, who rank 24th nationally, topped Daria Afanasyeva and Michelle Los Arcos, 6-1, and the 34th-ranked duo of senior Madison Dillon and freshman Ellie Schulson held off Hope Moulin and Natalia Nikolopoulou, 7-5, at flight two.  The Dukes won at flight three, where Kylie Moulin and Amanda Nord beat freshmen Jess Dawson and Maggie Pate, 6-1.

Furman scored three singles points to complete the victory.  Adams, who ranks 51st nationally, downed Nikolopoulou, 6-2, 6-0, at flight one, and freshman Sarah Snyder held off Hope Moulin, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, at number four.  At flight five, Schulson beat Nord, 6-0, 6-7(6), 6-1.  

James Madison scored at flight two, where Kylie Moulin came from behind for a 1-6, 6-4, 6-0 victory over Schoppe.

The matches at flights three and six were unfinished.  Dillon won set one, 4-6, over Afanasyeva at flight three, then Afanasyeva took set two, 6-2, and was leading the third set, 3-2.  At flight six, Lynelle Lim scored a 7-5 advantage over Dawson in set one, but the players were tied, 5-5, in set two.

Furman (10-5) will face Charlotte Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.
