Furman Travels to Gardner-Webb Saturday

Game Time Set for 1 p.m.

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team remains in Big South play Saturday afternoon when it travels to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a 1 p.m. matchup against the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs at Spangler Stadium.

The Paladins (1-5, 1-0 Big South) began the conference portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a 20-11 win over Wofford at Paladin Stadium. Furman saw several career performances turned in and scored a season high 20 goals in the victory. The Paladins scored at least 20 goals in a game for the first time since a 21-4 win over the Terriers in the semifinals of the last year's SoCon Women's Lacrosse Championship in Macon, Ga.

Meagan Beal set a new program record by winning 15 draws and Furman also won a school record 22 draws in the contest.

Lauren Farber and Anna Roser both led the Paladins offensively compiling career highs of eight points apiece. Farber had a career high six goals while Roser compiled career bests of six goals and two assists. Beal matched her career highs of five goals and six points. Sophie Shaw and Hannah Dintino both registered three points on a goal and two assists and Dintino turned in a career high four ground balls along with Sophia Buzelis. Dintino, Paige Harman and Ellie Roser all caused two turnovers. In goal, Lily Rathbun recorded six saves and four ground balls.

Beal leads the Furman offense this season with 16 points (13 goals, 3 assists) while Farber contributes 15 (12 goals, 3 assists) and Anna Roser 14 (12 goals, 2 assists). Beal has won 29 draws while Ellie Roser adds six caused turnovers. Rathbun provides 60 saves and a team leading 23 ground balls.

Gardner-Webb is currently 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the conference after opening league play on Wednesday with a 19-12 victory at Winthrop. The Runnin' Bulldogs are under the direction of fourth-year head coach Jessie Aguglia.

The Paladins are facing Gardner-Webb for the fifth time in program history with Furman leading the all-time series 4-0. The Paladins picked up an 18-6 win last season in Greenville.

Furman heads to Farmville, Va. on Wednesday, April 6 to face the Longwood Lancers in conference action at 3 p.m.
