GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The 36th-ranked Furman women's tennis team will entertain Samford Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C., in the Paladins' final home match of the season. On Sunday, Furman will travel to UNC Greensboro for a noon contest at the UNCG Tennis Courts.
Furman is 15-6 overall and 4-0 in SoCon play after defeating Western Carolina, 7-0, on Wednesday. Paladin senior Julia Adams is currently ranked 59th nationally in singles, while Adams and sophomore Ellie Schoppe are ranked 36th among the nation's top doubles teams.
Samford comes to Greenville with a 10-7 overall record and is 3-1 in league play. The Bulldogs defeated Western Carolina, 6-1, on Friday then dropped a 6-1 decision at ETSU on Sunday. Furman defeated the Bulldogs twice last season -- 7-0 in Birmingham during the regular season and 4-0 in the semifinals of the SoCon Championship, which was also held in Birmingham in 2021. The Paladins lead the all-time series, 15-4.
UNCG holds a 2-12 overall mark and is 1-3 in the SoCon after beating Mercer, 4-3, in Macon in March. The Paladins defeated the Spartans, 6-1, in Greenville last season to take a 25-3 lead in the series.
