Georgia Edges Furman In Women's Soccer Exhibition, 1-0

Paladins Open Regular Season Friday Night At Home Versus Presbyterian

Athens, Ga. – Georgia scored in the 24th minute to claim a 1-0 victory over Furman in the final women's soccer exhibition tune-up for both schools on Saturday night at the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, Ga.

"I thought we gained confidence as the game went on tonight," said Paladin head coach Andrew Burr. "We adapted to a couple of systems as we are still trying to determine what our most effective style of play will be. We are still learning about our newcomers and very happy with the progress we have made so far."

The Bulldogs grabbed the first half lead when Tori Penn found the back of the net on an assist from Mallie McKenzie. Georgia controlled much of the possession, but goalkeepers Addison Corn and Nora Sampson combined to stop 12 shots for the Paladins.

Furman opens the 2022 regular season this weekend on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium. The Paladins host Presbyterian at 7 p.m. on Friday before entertaining North Greenville for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Sunday.
