Furman Kicks Off 2022 Campaign At HBU Invitational This Week

Paladins Face Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word To Start New Season

Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's soccer team opens the 2022 season this week in Houston, Texas, at the HBU Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist University.

The four-team tournament, which features games on Thursday and Saturday, has been moved from Houston Baptist's campus to the AVEVA Stadium, it was announced this week. Furman will face HBU at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday before clashing with Incarnate Word at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.

The Paladins claimed an exhibition victory over Mars Hill to open their preseason and dropped a home contest to Clemson. Furman wrapped up the preseason this past weekend with a 0-0 draw at North Florida.

Preseason All-Southern Conference picks Jake Raine and Josh Hosie lead a solid group of returnees for the Paladins, who were tabbed the league's coaches to finish second in the SoCon race. After a trip to Gardner-Webb on September 2, Furman opens its home schedule versus North Greenville on September 6.

Live statistics will be available for both contests this weekend, but there will be no live stream of the games.
