GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will compete at the ITA Kickoff Weekend this Saturday and Sunday at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Paladins will square off against No. 21 Vanderbilt (1-0) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the event, which is being held concurrently at 15 sites nationwide.  The winner from each site earns a trip to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the 2023 ITA National Team Indoor Championship, scheduled for Feb. 10-13.

No. 3 N.C. State (1-0) and Illinois (1-0) will play Saturday at 11 a.m. to open the weekend's action.  On Sunday, Furman will face either the Wolfpack or the Illini, with the consolation match scheduled for 11 a.m. and the championship match set for 2 p.m.

Furman enters the weekend at 0-2 after dropping a 5-2 decision to Iowa on Sunday.  Sophomores Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder scored in singles for the Paladins.

Saturday's match marks the ninth meeting between the Paladins and the Commodores.  The teams last met in 2008, when Vanderbilt scored a 7-0 victory over Furman in Nashville.  The Commodores opened the season last weekend with a 5-2 win at Northwestern.  Celia-Belle Morh ranks 33rd nationally, in singles while Bridget Stammel ranks 35th in the latest national singles poll.  Morh and Anessa Lee rank 55th currently in doubles.
