The Paladins shook off 9-for-36 (.250) shooting in the first half by finding the mark on 13-of-29 shots (.444) over the game's final 20 minutes.  Furman, however, did its biggest damage at the free throw line, outscoring Gardner-Webb by 21 points by knocking down 25-of-34 opportunities.

Trailing 47-34 with 6:20 remaining in the third quarter, Furman cut the Bulldogs' advantage to 54-48 by the end of the period and took its first lead since the first quarter when Johnson took an across the lane feed from Session for a layup that put the Paladins up, 59-58, with 4:01 left.

On its next trip down the court Johnson tallied again off a Walters dish, and Henley closed a 9-0 Paladin run with a 3-pointer at the 2:41 mark for a 64-58 Paladin advantage.

Gardner-Webb, which connected on 6-of-15 3-pointers in the first half, went 0-for-9 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter.

Session, who entered the game averaging a double-double in points and rebounds, kept pace by claiming a game high 12 rebounds, and Ryan also went for a double-double with 11 caroms.  Henley just missed making it a double-double trifecta by tallying nine rebounds.
