GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Dylan Schubert and Abigail Robertson have been chosen the Southern Conference Cross Country Athletes of the Month for October, as announced today by the league office.  

Schubert, a senior from Loveland, Colo., began the month by leading the Furman men's team to a ninth-place team finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, posting an 8K time of 23:55.3.  The Paladins took down 15 ranked teams and catapulted to the No. 12 spot nationally.  Later in the month, Schubert won the SoCon individual title for the second-consecutive year, with an 8K time of 23:33.7, finishing 12 seconds ahead of the runner-up.  For his efforts at the league championship, he was named SoCon Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year for the second-straight year.  The Paladin men are ranked 14th nationally and first in the Southeast region heading into Friday's NCAA Regional Championships. 

Robertson, a senior from Marietta, Ga., finished first at the SoCon Cross Country Championship with a 6K time of 16:41.7, claiming her first SoCon individual title.  She was named the SoCon Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, marking Furman's third-straight runner of the year award on the women's side.  Robertson was also honored as the SoCon Student Athlete of the Week on Nov.1 following the league championship.  Earlier in October, she finished 82nd at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational with a 6K time of 20:56.0.  Furman's women's team is ranked 25th nationally.

Behind the performances of Schubert and Robertson, the Paladins won their 11th-straight SoCon titles on both the women's and men's sides in October.

Furman will compete at the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship Friday in Spartanburg, S.C.  The women's race will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the men's race at noon.
