Greenville, S.C. – The Furman women's lacrosse team opens its 2023 campaign on Wednesday afternoon when it travels to Historic Riggs Field for a 4 p.m. opening draw against the Clemson Tigers.

The Paladins return 15 letterwinners and nine starters from last year's team that finished 8-8 overall and 7-2 during their first season in the Big South Conference. Furman, who is entering its second year under the direction of head coach
Kirkland Lewis, finished tied for third in the Big South last season and advanced to the semifinals of the Big South Women's Lacrosse Championship. The Paladins also welcome six newcomers featuring four freshmen, one senior, and one transfer sophomore.
Furman had two players selected Preseason All-Big South in
Meagan Beal and
Hannah Dintino. Beal (First Team) and Dintino (Second Team) were both All-Big South picks in 2022 along with Second Team selection
Katelyn Sousa.
The Tigers began their season on Saturday with a 23-1 victory over Wofford in Clemson. The program is under the direction of first-year head coach Allison Kwolek.
Wednesday's contest marks the first all-time meeting between the Paladins and Tigers.
Furman is back in action on Tuesday, February 28 when it travels to Gainesville, Fla. for a 12 p.m. matchup with preseason 7
th-ranked Florida.
