AWENDAW, S.C. -- Sophomore Will Morlan (-10) carded a 67 for the second-consecutive day and surged into a tie for second to lead the Furman men's golf team Monday at the Hootie at Bulls Bay at the par 72, 7,349 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.

Morlan, who hails from Alpharetta, Ga., teed off on No. 10 and birdied his first two holes.  After turning at even par, he birdied four-straight holes from No. 2 through No. 5 and added an additional birdie on No. 9 for a team-high seven birdies in the round.  He is three strokes back of leader Alex Goff (-13) of Kentucky, who holds a three-stroke lead after posting rounds of 66-65=131.

Senior Ross Funderburke (-4) also fired a 67 on Monday.  He posted six birdies, including three-straight from No. 8 through No. 10, and is tied for 24th after two rounds.  Freshman Harris Barth (+1) recorded an even 72 with a total of five birdies and two-straight on No. 15 and No. 16 to tie for 51st.  Senior Sam Lape (+3) is tied for 65th after posting a 75 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 4 on Monday, and sophomore Trey Diehl (+6) enters the final round in 71st place.  He scored a 76 with birdies on No. 5 and No. 10 in round two. 

No. 41 East Tennessee State (-28) leads the field by six strokes entering Tuesday's final round.  No. 40 Purdue (-22) sits in second place, followed by New Mexico (-21).  Furman (-10) is tied for sixth with Wisconsin (-10), College of Charleston (-10), and Kentucky (-10), one stroke ahead of South Carolina (-9).  

Furman ranked third in the field with 42 birdies and fourth with a 3.98 scoring average on the par 4s.

The final round of the 54-hole tournament begins Tuesday at 8 a.m. with teams teeing off on No. 1 and No. 10.  Furman will tee off on No. 10 starting at 8 a.m. and will play in a group with Wisconsin and Kentucky.  Admission is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via http://www.FurmanPaladins.com and http://www.golfstat.com.
