San Antonio, Texas – The No. 42 UTSA Roadrunners blanked the Furman men's tennis team, 7-0, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at UTSA Tennis Center.
Furman drops to 4-9 overall while UTSA improves to 9-4 on the season.
The Roadrunners took two of the three doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the opening point. Tiago Torres and Alan Magadan recorded a 6-3 victory over
Cole Burnam and
Thomas Kennedy at No. 1, and Tomas Pinho and Garrett Skelly downed
Jerry Barton and
Elijah Poritzky, playing at No. 2, 6-3. In the No. 3 match,
Ben Cahill and
Emil Westling saw their matchup versus Danijal Muminovic and Miguel Alonso go unfinished with the Paladin duo leading 4-3.
In singles, UTSA recorded wins in all six matches to secure the 7-0 win. Magadan topped Barton at No. 1 by scores of 6-1, 6-4, and Torres defeated Poritzky in the No. 2 match 6-3, 7-5. Kennedy, playing at No. 3, fell 6-2, 6-2 to Pinho, and Skelly won 6-1, 6-2 against Burnam at No. 4. Muminovic knocked off
Alex Han at No. 5 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, and Jackson Ross recorded a 6-1, 6-3 victory over
Jason Smith at No. 6.
Furman concludes its three-match road trip on Thursday afternoon with a 3 p.m. ET contest at UT Arlington.
