Campbell Takes Down Furman in Final Minutes, 9-8

Roser Scores Season High Four Goals

Greenville, S.C. – Olivia Ohlmann's goal with 2:59 remaining in the contest propelled the Campbell Camels to a 9-8 victory over the Furman women's lacrosse team in Big South action, Saturday afternoon at Paladin Stadium.

Furman drops to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Big South. With the win, Campbell improves to 6-4 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Trailing 7-4 early in the third quarter, the Camels scored four consecutive goals from Ohlmann and Ally Heath to take an 8-7 lead. Heath's second goal of the game with 1:04 remaining in the third quarter put Campbell in front by one.

Neither team would score for the first 11:12 of the fourth quarter before Hannah Dintino evened the score at 8-8 with 3:48 to go on her first goal of the afternoon. Ohlmann responded less than a minute later, completing the hat trick, and giving the Camels a 9-8 lead. Campbell would run out the clock for the one-goal victory.

The Camels started the game on a 3-1 run before the Paladins outscored Campbell 5-1 to hold a 6-4 halftime lead. Anna Roser recorded a hat trick during the run while Paige Harman and Sophie Shaw both added a goal. Harman netted her second goal less than three minutes into the second half as Furman would increase its advantage to 7-4.

Roser led the Paladins offensively scoring a season high four goals and picked up two ground balls. Harman contributed three points on two goals and one assist while Shaw added two points on one goal and one assist. Dintino finished with one goal and Meagan Beal one assist. Sophia Buzelis had a career high five ground balls and Amanda McCabe caused a season best three turnovers. In goal, Lily Rathbun registered six saves and five ground balls.

Ohlmann's hat trick paced the Camels on offense while Heath and Joslin Hanbury both scored twice. Rasa Welsh dished out a game high four assists. In goal, Emma Strickland made seven saves to go with two ground balls and one caused turnover.

Furman, who forced Campbell into a season high 23 turnovers, recorded nine draws and held a 28-22 advantage in ground balls.

The Paladins travel to High Point, N.C. on Wednesday, April 5 for a 5 p.m. opening draw at High Point.
