GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Thanks to the generosity of nearly 3,000 donors, Furman Athletics raised over $19 million to complete yet another record-breaking fundraising cycle in the fiscal year 2022–23, it was announced today by executive senior associate athletics director for development and alumni relations, Erin Wissing.
 
"We are truly grateful for the generosity and participation of our donors in support of Furman Athletics. This record-breaking accomplishment is a reflection of the hard work and achievements of our student-athletes, coaches and staff and our university's commitment to sustainable success and excellence in academics and athletics," said Jason Donnelly, Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.
 
Overall, gifts to the department during the 2022-23 fiscal year totaled over $19.01M, including 33 gifts that were made of six and seven figure commitments. Also, included in the $19.01 M were 2,597 donors that made a gift to the Furman Athletics Fund, supporting fundraising efforts such as Paladin Scholarship Fund, scholarship endowments, capital projects, and sport-specific giving opportunities. This marks the third consecutive record-breaking fundraising year, surpassing $13.5M raised in in FY22 and $10M raised in FY21 for Furman Athletics.

During the fiscal year, the Paladin Scholarship Fund increased in funding by 17% from the previous year. Men's basketball paced the year with the most dollars raised followed by football, then women's basketball. Football led the way with the most individual donors followed by men's basketball, then cross country track and field. In addition, Furman Athletics led the university's Dins Day effort, which produced 1,804 gifts totaling $511,549.28.

"This year was one for the record books for many reasons – none of which would have been possible without the support of each one of our donors. A robust culture of philanthropy truly takes our programs to another level. We are deeply grateful to have this magnitude of support behind Furman Athletics."
