Spartanburg, S.C. – Senior
Addison Corn notched eight saves to help Furman to a 1-1 draw versus USC Upstate in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at County University Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
With the draw, Furman remained unbeaten on the season at 3-0-1 while the Spartans moved to 1-1-2.
USC Upstate controlled much of the play in the first half, but Corn managed six saves to keep the match scoreless through 45 minutes. The Spartans broke the scoreless deadlock in the 62
nd minute when Nya Baccelli dribbled through the middle of the field, split the center backs, and slotted a shot past Corn towards the left side of the net at the 60:40 mark.
Furman wasted little time producing an equalizer. Less than eight minutes after the Spartans' goal,
Jenny Jacobson controlled the ball along the endline and played a pass back to
Camryn Bolick on the right wing. The senior curled a ball towards the net that slipped through the hands of Upstate goalkeeper Cora Brendle and into the left corner of the net before it could be cleared by a pair of Spartan defenders at the 68:07 mark.

Addison Corn did a great job of keeping us in the match and we found a way to score a goal in the second half. The focus remains improving and preparing for the Southern Conference season."
Norah Roller, who sparked the Paladin attack late in the first half, produced one of the scoring attempts down the stretch as Furman turned three shots on goal over the final 20 minutes of the match.
USC Upstate finished with a 16-10 edge in shots and 9-6 advantage in shots on goal, but Furman posted a 5-3 margin in shots on target over the final 45 minutes. Brendle totaled five saves for the Spartans while Corn finished with eight saves for the Paladins.
Furman is back in action on Thursday evening when it travels to face nationally-ranked Clemson at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, S.C. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
