Clemson, S.C. – No. 11 Clemson tallied four first half goals on its way to a 4-1 victory over Furman in non-conference women's soccer action at Historic Riggs Field in Clemson, S.C., on Thursday night.
The Tigers (4-0-1) opened the scoring less than six minutes into the match when Jenna Tobia played a cross from the right to the far side of the box and Megan Bornkamp lofted a header over Furman goalkeeper
Addison Corn at the 5:39 mark. Tatum Short doubled the lead by lining a 17-yard blast into the right side in the 18
th minute on an assist from Bornkamp.
Clemson's Mackenzie Duff upped the margin to 3-0 at 32:15. Dani Davis served a corner kick to the far side of the box and Duff nodded a shot inside the right post from close range. Hal Hershfelt capped Clemson's first half outburst at 38:02 with a blast into the right corner from nearly 25 yards out.
Furman (3-1-1) avoided the shutout in the 73
rd minute.

Norah Roller redirected the ball into the net for her second goal of the season. The Paladins' goal marked the first of the season for a Clemson opponent.
"I'm proud of the way we came out in the second half and played with urgency and purpose," said Paladin head coach
Andrew Burr. "Clemson scored a couple of great goals tonight and proved why they were the 11
th ranked team in the country, but we never quit."
Corn notched a season-high 13 saves for the Paladins while Clemson's Halle Mackiewicz played over 58 minutes to pick up the victory in goal. The Tigers outshot Furman 37-1, including 17-1 on shots on target.
Furman is back in action on Sunday with a 12 p.m. kickoff at UNC Asheville.
