CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Furman senior Madelynne Cadeau finished second in the Women's Gold 5K, while junior Luke Taylor finished third in the Men's Gold 8K Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C.
A native of Cumming, Ga., Cadeau paced the Paladins with a time of 17:05.37. Senior Megan Marvin finished directly behind Cadeau in third at 17:10.04, and junior Camryn Wennersten was 20th with a time of 17:48.81. Junior Clair Garrett crossed the line in 18:27.98 for 46th place.
On the men's side, Taylor, who hails from Rockville, Va., posted a time of 24:03.77, while senior Nick Goldstein also finished inside the top 10, clocking in at 24:17.85 for ninth place. Senior Casey Burr turned in a time of 24:52.20 to finish 24th, and senior Foster Wilfong took 37th place at 25:08.65.
The Paladins will compete at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wis., and the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., on Oct. 19.
