WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Sophomore Audrey Ryu (E) is tied for 22nd to lead the Furman women's golf team after Friday's opening round of the 22nd Annual Landfall Tradition, which is being hosted by UNC Wilmington at the par 72, 6,1978 yard Dye Course at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
A native of Dublin, Ohio, Ryu teed off on No. 10 and birdied three of four holes from No. 12 through No. 15. She recorded a team-high four birdies with an additional birdie on No. 3 to finish at even par, seven strokes behind individual leader Lottie Woad of Florida State, who led the field with a 65 on Friday.Â
Junior Liza Lapeyre (+3) recorded a 75 with a birdie on No. 12 to tie for 52nd, while freshman Jenna Madden (+4) posted a 76 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 15, tying for 67th. Freshman Eva Ringwald (+7) logged consecutive birdies on No. 8 and No. 9 to end the round, carding a 79 and tying for 81st, while senior Alise Knudson (+9) shot an 81 to finish the first round tied for 86th. Â
Duke (-9) and Florida State (-9) are tied for the team lead Friday's first round. North Carolina (-8) is third, followed by Ole Miss (-6) in fourth place. Furman (+14) is in 15th place, ahead of Power 4 opponent Penn State (+22).
The 54-hole tournament continues Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Paladins will start at 9:15 a.m. on hole No. 10 and will play in a group with Illinois and Notre Dame. Sunday's final round will feature a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
