GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team will compete at the Trinity Forest Invitational, which will be hosted by SMU Sunday through Tuesday at the par 72, 7,617 yard Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
"With Hurricane Helene and its aftermath, it has been an interesting two weeks of practice at Furman and at home for the team since the Cincinnati event," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, who is in his seventh year at the head of the Paladin program. "Needless to say, we are definitely ready to hit the road and compete again. Trey, Harris and Will have been playing some very solid golf this season. To add Clark and Ludvig to the lineup gives us a lot of depth and should suit the course well. Trinity Forest should be a fun test, as it gives you room off the tee, and options going into the big, unique greens. It will be a great place to start the final stretch of the fall season."
The 54-hole tournament begins at 10:25 a.m. ET on Sunday. Play will continue Monday at 10:55 a.m. ET, with the final round slated for Tuesday at 10:25 a.m. ET. In Sunday's opening round, Furman will play in a group with Abilene Christian and Texas-Rio Grande Valley and will tee off on No. 1 starting at 10:25 a.m. ET. Â
Furman will be joined in the 15-team field by host SMU, Abilene Christian, Louisiana, Louisiana Tech, Loyola Marymount, N.C. State, North Texas, Rice, San Francisco, Southern Cal, Texas-Arlington, Texas-Rio Grande Valley, Texas-San Antonio, and UNLV.
The Paladin lineup for the Trinity Forest Invitational includes junior Harris Barth, senior Trey Diehl, senior Will Morlan, senior Trey Diehl, junior Clark Akers, and freshman Ludvig Josefsson. Â
Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome. Live tournament scoring for the event will be available at https://scoreboard.clippd.com/tournaments/233230/scoring/participants.
Furman opened the 2024-25 season at the Gopher Invitational and the Minnesota Golf Classic. Barth tied for third and Morlan tied for seventh to lead the Paladins at the Gopher Invitational, while Halflants finished as runner-up at the Minnesota Golf Classic. The Paladins concluded September's play at the Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, where Diehl tied for tenth and Furman turned in a fifth-place finish.
