Furman Hosts Chattanooga Tuesday To Continue Homestand

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman volleyball team resumes its five-match homestand Tuesday evening when it hosts the Chattanooga Mocs in Southern Conference play inside Alley Gymnasium.

The Paladins (12-11, 6-6 SoCon) are riding a season-long four-match winning streak entering Tuesday's matchup with Chattanooga. Furman started its five-match homestand last weekend with back-to-back wins over Mercer and Samford. The Paladins topped league-leading Mercer, 3-1, on November 7 and followed the next day with a three-set sweep of Samford.

Furman hit .281 while Ava Augustson and Quinn Morrissey both had double-doubles in the win over Mercer. Augustson recorded a team high 13 kills along with Chander Parker and posted her fourth double-double of the season on a career best 22 digs. Morrissey chipped in her sixth double-double on 23 assists and 15 digs. Tennyson Gorman contributed 12 kills on .579 hitting and Emily Navarro totaled 24 assists and seven digs. Defensively, Kennedy Seekford registered 15 digs and Ashley Stein 14.

The Paladins held a 60-57 advantage in kills and 54-53 in assists. Furman also led 12.0-3.0 in blocks, tying a season high total for blocks in a match.

Augustson then led all players with 15 kills, while Stein poured in 11, to lead the Paladins versus Samford. Augustson hit .406 overall while adding eight digs and helped pace a Furman offense that saw it post a .300 hitting percentage or better for the fifth time this season, finishing with a .318 clip. Stein contributed eight digs after hitting .296 for the match. Gorman compiled eight kills on .667 hitting. Navarro had 19 assists and eight digs, and Morrissey dished out 12 assists. Seekford had a match high 18 digs.

The Paladins ended the match holding a 46-34 advantage in kills, 39-32 in assists, and 54-47 in digs.

Chattanooga currently sits at 15-13 overall and 5-8 in the SoCon following a four-set loss at The Citadel last Saturday.

Furman owns a 52-30 advantage in the all-time series over the Mocs and earned a 3-0 sweep in Chattanooga, Tenn., on November 2.

The Paladins close out the regular season this weekend hosting The Citadel and Wofford. Furman hosts The Citadel on Friday at 6 p.m. and welcomes Wofford to Alley Gymnasium Saturday at 4 p.m.
